About Me

After taking up the piano at an early age, Kate began vocal studies with choral director and composer Patrick Larley. She then studied voice with Soo Bee Lee and piano with Tom Jackman at the London College of Music. Kate furthered her opera studies with British Youth Opera and the Welsh Opera School.  She has also studied with Nicholas Powell and Linda Hutchison.


Kate has had many engagements as an oratorio and concert soloist whilst also working in function bands and as a singer songwriter. She has worked extensively as a piano vocalist at wedding and functions. She has worked with artists as diverse as Neil Jenkins, Imogen Heap, Jim Diamond, The Delays and Murder By Death and in venues such as The Royal Albert Hall, The Royal Opera House, Ronnie Scotts and The Troubadour. 


For several years Kate was a singer and pianist in indie group The Peryls  with whom she wrote and recorded EP’s and albums which are published by Tummy Touch Music. Their music has featured on BBC radio 6 and has been used in adverts, TV and films in Europe and America.  She continues to write music for various projects.


Kate has over 20 years experience as a freelance voice teacher specialising in contemporary vocal styles. Her students come from all walks of life and range from beginners to professionals. Kate really enjoys working with actors and dancers and is highly sought after as an audition coach.   Kate also has experience of preparing students for recording sessions and troubleshooting a wide range of vocal issues.


Kate has been examining the Rock and Pop syllabus at Trinity College London for several years.  In addition to examining for Trinity, she is also involved in the training and recruitment of new panel members and in her role as a supervising examiner, oversees complaints and monitoring of the panel.
